Trained in Graphic Design at
Hastings College of Arts and Technology, Cheryl went into designing
and producing graphical murals for children’s bedrooms by commission,
part time whilst raising her own family. During this period she also
taught art workshops for adults and children through local organised
events and a drop in centre where she was the coordinator. She taught
mosaic art, stained glass, glass painting, papier mache, silk painting
and encaustic art. In 1994 Cheryl became a scenery painter for
theatre companies, which also involved designs and props for pantomime.
This enabled Cheryl to also specialise in paint effects, wood staining and stencilling.
In 1998 Cheryl had decided that she would seek to express herself
by taking a Fine Art Degree at the Kent Institute of Art and Design.
She hoped to increase her repertoires further to include print making,
photography, film making and sculpture.
Since then (2001)Cheryl returned to Hastings College as a lecturer of
Art and Design for NCFE craft foundation, vocational and 6th Form students. She has
run workshops for the Children’s University, school projects
and her local community throughout her career as an artist.
She is a regular exhibitor and local celebrity through the press,
continually increasing her exposure to the public at large. Her
silk paintings have become very fashionable, being networked throughout
the south east of England via organised craft events, local galleries
and venues.
She has since pioneered South East Murals.
In addition to her role as a creative director, Cheryl enjoys
digital photography as her sketchbook media, from which she draws much inspiration before
transforming her images into breathtaking murals
Cheryl is currently working on a project for a hotel in Bexhill on sea.
This involves the planning, design, mapping and painting of approximately 18 themed rooms.
